Focus on Kemptown | Brighton

Seaview from Kemptown

Kemptown’s reputation as the bohemian capital of Brighton is well-deserved: this charming part of town, which runs roughly from the Pier down to the Marina, is a microcosm of all that’s great about the city. Home to a thriving and diverse collection of shops, cafés, restaurants and artists studios, it’s perhaps best known for being the heart of Brighton’s gay scene. The area in and around St James’s St is chock full with a huge selection of bars and clubs to suit the tastes of every gay guy and gal – and their friends!

The city as a whole prides itself on its reputation as being the most gay-friendly in the UK (and is number one in the country for civil partnerships), but Kemptown has really taken that mantra to heart. As a result, it’s the top destination for the gay visitor, and we’re sure you’ll return time and time again.

It’s not all about the nightlife though. Start with an ice-cream or portion of fish and chips on the Pier and then walk along the seafront towards Brighton’s buzzing Marina to reveal some of the most stunning views in the city – not just out to sea, but looking inwards too. Marine Parade boasts a succession of stunning Georgian, Regency and Victorian properties that have been charming visitors for hundreds of years. Head inland and you’ll find yet more beautiful streets, with perhaps the greatest concentration of blue plaques outside London. You can also be sure you’re never too far away from a stylish deli, bar or coffee shop.

The far end of Kemptown brings you to the hugely popular Brighton Marina, where a fantastic array of restaurants, bars, shops, and of course boats, awaits you. It’s the perfect place to end a day’s wandering around this most fascinating part of Brighton. And what better place to relax than in your own self catering Brighton flat or apartment.

If you’re looking for a lively break with more than a dash of culture thrown in then make Kemptown your port of call: whatever your needs we have the property to suit you, and we can promise you’ll have a fantastic time!
