May is festival month in Brighton and the city comes alive with performers of all disciplines.
This year the festival is started on the 5th of May with the children’s parade; the procession in 2012 has the honour of being led by Vanessa Redgrave who is also narrating ‘A World I Loved’.
Following on from society’s new found love of dance, thanks to shows such as ‘Strictly’ and ‘Got To Dance,’ The International Festival Of Hip Hop Dance Theatre puts on ‘Breaking Convention’ – one of this year’s festival highlights. For more details on all the festival shows please log on to the Brighton Festival’s official website.
As usual the Fringe festival runs alongside the main festival, this year Brighton Fringe boasts 675 events at 193 venues across the city. The Fringe like the main festival is a great chance for all the family to explore Brighton together. ‘Baby Loves Disco’ is a particular favourite and gives the whole family an opportunity to have a boogie together!
The ‘Lady Boys of Bangkok’ are back with their tour at Victoria Gardens in Brighton. This highly popular show is well worth a visit but book early to avoid disappointment! For more Brighton Fringe events please visit their website.
